It's my birthday, and I'll bog if I want to! - Weekly Running Update: December 9, 2018

Hi Everyone!

How's everyone's training going? Winding down? Everyone calculate when training starts for spring races? My race training will most likely resume in a couple weeks!

My Week in Training:

Monday: 5 miles before work. Sunday was rest day, but had to do 3 hrs of yard work, which usually hurts my lower back a bit the next morning. Slacked on hydrating, but made up for it later. Got a good night's rest though. Up a few minutes before my alarm. Coffee, work out, stretch (foam roll that lower back out!), and out the door by 6. Yesterday was a bit of a heat wave, still through today. Dressed for light winter. Ditched the gloves right away, hat wasn't on much longer either! 8:15 before the hills, 8:30 after, maintained pace rest of the way. Definitely could of done short sleeves!
Tuesday: 5 miles. "Random" day off from work. End of yr time to burn. :) A list of chores to do today, but first running. Up at my normal time. Coffee, work out, stretch. Decided to hit the trail! Yay, trail day! My trail Pennypack Creek.. Park in the middle. (Welsh and Terwood). Did the side to Byberry Rd and back. Slight incline with a hill at the end. 8:20-8:30 to the end. Stopped for a few pics. This is from that end of the trail. Noticed there's horses by that barn over there, will try to get more pics some time! On the way back, stopped at the first bench viewing area and the first bridge. Resumed my run, picked up some speed on the way back, felt much better! After running, did an hr of yard work.
Full pics here.
Wednesday: 3.11 miles before work. Up before my alarm, but a bit groggy. Coffee, workout, stretch. Tired to start, but was a bit brisk out! 8:15 before the hills, 8:25 after for a bit.
Thursday: 3.11 miles before work. Went to bed early and woke up early, decent night's rest, but feeiling groggy again this morning. Coffee, workout, stretch, and out the door by 6. Still a bit chilly out.
Friday: 5 miles before work. Up a few min later last night, but not late. Felt more well rested though. Alarm set for 4:50, up a few min before that. Coffee, workout, hydrate, stretch, and out the door by 6. A bit cool, but not as chilly as the past few days. 8:15 before the hills, 8:25 after. Today felt pretty good, didn't want to over do it before tomorrow's "long" run. Will be hydrating plenty today, and a bit of carb loading tonight.
Saturday: 8 miles. Happy "long" run day! Still no plan for a few weeks. Trying to maintain around 8-10, depending on how ambitious I'm feeling. Up at my normal time. Coffee, stretch, and at my trail by sunrise. A bit cooler out, time to think about wearing pants/tights! Also wore my ninja mask, just in case. My trail Pennypack Creek. Park in the middle, Welsh and Terwood. Did the more wooded side first. Maintained around 8:20. Didn't go too far on that side. Trail closed! Am trying to document my trail from 5.25-0, but the one end was closed. Usually I would ignore the sign, but there's guns involved. lol... Turn around, back to the mid point just under 3mi. To the more gradual incline side. Gradually slowed down, to that end, did a lap around Rockledge Park (short but steep hill), just in case I needed a few extra tenths.  Turn around and tried picking up the pace (but not by much) on the way back.. A bit chilly (20 degrees), but felt good. After running, did 2+ hrs of yard work. Getting closer to being done fall cleanup.. I think.
Sunday: 1 mile. Rest day, one for the streak. Run Streak day 1,051.
Glad I took care of yard work yesterday, I can actually enjoy my rest day today. Also happens to be my birthday! Before 40, definitely didn't like the sound of 40. Actually, still don't like to actually say it. But 40, was very good to me. Blessed in many ways. Family, friends, career, and of course, running ;). If 41 is anything like 40, I'll take it!
Total Weekly Miles: 30 miles
Total Weekly Strength Training:  75 minutes

Training plan: no training plan for a few weeks, but will try not to stray too far. ;)
