Week Ending 10/29

Hi Fellow runners!

How's everyone's training going?

My week in review:

Monday: Two miles after work. Monday was rest day. Really prefer to do long run Saturday and rest day on Sunday, and start the week strong Monday. But had a 5k and plans Saturday, long run Sunday, so rest day Monday, and two for the streak.

Tuesday: 5 miles at the trail after work. Enjoyed football and an adult beverage or two on Monday night. A bit tired throughout Tuesday, but wasn't that bad.

Wednesday: 5k. Work from home day, lunch run, done!

Thursday: 4 miles at the trail after work. Wore a coat to work this morning, sun warmed up by lunch time. It rained, it cleared up. After work my car said it was 56 degrees outside, no need for long sleeves. Well, felt fine at first, but once on the trail heading into some shade it definitely got cooler. Wind chill 47, probably cooler in some parts of the trail. Can do 47 in short sleeves, but as it gets dark or windy it may be time to add something to the outfit. Guess it's time to keep an eye on temps before heading out.

Friday: 5k after work. Work was fine, was definitely thinking more about Saturday's run that Friday's. Done work. 5k around the neighborhood. Per usual, pasta night before long run day. Didn't get into the World Series game, didn't want to stay up late.
Saturday: Long run day! New longest run! Longest run of my marathon training plan! First 15 miles or so weren't bad, but last 2-3 were definitely a bit rough! Lower back and overall soreness. Will definitely be stretching and hydrating! For more details of the run, check my marathon update here!
Later Saturday, drove to Reading,Pa to visit my pops. Always a great visit. Before dinner we stopped at a small brewery in West Reading, Chatty Monks! ;) Pic below is their Pekkochu IPA.
Sunday: rest day, one for the streak. Streak day 645. Left calf is still pretty tight. Stretched a bunch last night and a bit this morning. Will continue. Still some overall soreness from yesterday, but not horrible.

October goals:

  • Taper for Army Ten Miler. Review can be found here.
  • Taper for the Runner's World 5k, review can be found here.
  • long run training for the Philadelphia Marathon! Progress can be found here.
November goals:
  • Take taper and recovery days before the marathon seriously. Don't worry about missing 100 mi month. If it happens, it happens. Completing the marathon is this month's goal.

Future races registered for:
  • 11/19/17 - Philadelphia Marathon, my first full! Track my training updates here.
  • 03/25/18 - Philadelphia Love Run half marathon. Love the love run! Check out my 2017 review here: Race review: #LoveRunPhilly

  1. Happy November and HAPPY MARATHON MONTH! Great week with your training runs. I've been a little injured (not exactly sure what's going on but my leg has been hurting when I bend it) so I've been taking it "easy" with less runs. Not my favorite but has to be done.

  2. Happy November!! Thx!! ;) Hope you have a speedy recovery! Not my favorite either, it can be frustrating /impatient coming back from an injury or setback, but health is most important! Best of luck with your recovery!
